DepEd taps Khan Academy to push digital education; SAVS approved for pilot implementation

 

The Department of Education (DepEd) formalized partnership with Khan Academy, a US-based educational organization that produces online learning materials, by signing a Memorandum of Agreement on Monday, August 5.

The partnership is expected to boost DepEd's education technology efforts in providing more learners access to digital learning content, particularly on foundational skills of learners in numeracy and literacy.

San Andres Vocational School (SAVS) is the only school in Catanduanes approved by Khan Academy as recommended by the Schools Division Office to be a pilot implementer of the project based on a set of requirements which includes the capacity of the school's ICT infrastructure and internet connectivity.

For the pilot implementation, one section in Grade 7 will be the pilot class where supplementary learning activities would be held in the ICT classroom through the Khan Academy's online tools.

SAVS administration has committed to continuously improve the school's ICT capabilities in order to address the growing needs for technology-assisted learning interventions.
