Group of student-researchers from SAVS is this year's champion of DOST Bicol's Supnit: Mga Malikhaing Kaisipan

 

Awarding Ceremony of Supnit: Mga Malikhaing Kaisipan at the Catanduanes State University Little Theater

A group of student-researchers from SAVS was hailed as this year's champion of this year's Supnit: Mga Malikhaing Kaisipan, a showcase of creativity and innovation for the abaca industry in the region.

Ivan Cyrus Reaves, Jellian Besonia, Katrice Joy Vargas, Grade 11 STEM students, with their coach Ma. Lorylyn Burce successfully impressed the panel of experts in the final presentation of their research proposal "Project Bio-Seive: Abaca (Musa Textiles) Fibers as a Solution for Water Pollution in Catanduanes during the Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTIW) and Abacanobasyon 2.0 at the Catanduanes State University (CatSU) on May 22.

The announcement of winners and awarding ceremony was done on May 24 at the same venue where top DOST officials from the region with CatSU President Dr. Patrick Alain Asanza awarded the group with plaques and cash prize.

The proposal is among the original 22 entries from various secondary schools in the region where only the top 5top 5 were given the opportunity to present their ideas in the RSTIW and Abacanobasyon 2.0.

Meanwhile, Jhon Mark Solmiano placed 3rd in the AGHAMUSIKA, another event of RSTIW, with his original composition "Muling Magsimula."

During the final judging, Solmiano and the other finalists performed live on stage during the closing ceremonies of the DOST regional event.
