Sarmiento, DPWH assure rehab of Nina-damaged school buildings

Catanduanes Congressman Cesar V. Sarmiento assures the repair and reconstruction of school buildings damaged by Typhoon Nina as soon as funds become available.

In a conference with the DepEd Division of Catanduanes officials and principals of schools that were damaged by the recent typhoon, the congressman has committed his office to work overtime in gathering resources to immediately start the rehabilitation work.

Also in the conference are the officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Catanduanes Engineering District who are keen at redesigning school buildings in the future to withstand typhoon winds up to 300 kilometers per hour.

The congressman also visited SAVS last week to personally assess the damage sustained by the school due to the typhoon.

SAVS is among the schools in Catanduanes that has been heavily damaged by Typhoon Nina on December 25, 2016.

The typhoon caused major damages to the school's Multipurpose Building, the newly constructed Senior High School building, and several classrooms.

Other classrooms, laboratory rooms, and offices were not spared, with minor damages.
