The Department of Education (DepEd) has released the guidelines on the conduct of closing ceremonies for the School Year 2016-2017.
DepEd Order No. 8, s. 2017 outlines how closing ceremonies shall be conducted by schools in all levels of basic education.
This year's theme "Sabay-Sabay na Hakbang Tungo sa Maunlad na Kinabukasan," emphasizes the signficance of unity in forging a better and progressive future for the Filipino youth, the DepEd order reads.
In the same order, DepEd reminds schools of the following:
- Graduation rites should be scheduled on or before April 7, 2017;
- Graduation rites should be simple but meaningful without excessive spending, extravagant attire, or extraordinary vanue;
- Non-academic requirements should not be imposed as requirements for graduation or completion;
- Closing ceremony should be conducted in an appropriate solemn ceremony benifitting the learners and their parents and shall not be used as a political forum.
