SAVS opens Senior High School for SY 2015-2016

San Andres Vocational School (SAVS) has been chosen as one of five secondary schools in the Division of Catanduanes to have the early implementation of the Senior High School, a year ahead of the full implementation by school year 2016-2017.

As per record from the school's Senior High School Coordinator, more than 55 students have enrolled in two specializations offered for the early implementation - 43 in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and 12 in Tailoring.

This number is way ahead of the school's target of 40 initial enrollees. Ms. Amelia R. Eusebio, the school principal, attributed this overwhelming participation to the program due to the school's intensive campaign within the community prior to the opening of classes.

In the full implementation of Senior High School by next school year, more specializations for various tracks of the four strands - Technical-VOcational and Livelihood (TVL), Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), Accounting, Business and Management (ABM), and Humanities and Social Sciences (HumSS).

The school expects a drastic increase in its enrollment comes next school year. Aside from the present students enrolled in Grade 10 and will continue in Grade 11, SAVS is expected to be the preferred school of students from nearby secondary schools that will not offer Senior High School by next school year.

Secondary schools within the municipality that may not offer Senior High School by SY 2016-2017 includes Lictin Integrated School, Cabcab National High School, and Codon National High School.

Some schools, such as Manambrag National High School and Mayngaway National High School, on the other hand, will only offer limited number of specializations.

In preparation for the full implementation of Senior High School, SAVS is currently upgrading its facilities and personnel to ensure that they meet the requirements for the program. The administration have already incorporated the needed upgrades within the school's strategic, improvement, and annual implementation plans.
