SAVS Hosts Training For New Teacher Rating System

SAVS Principal Ms. Amelia R. Eusebio leads the training of
teachers and school heads of San Andres East District for
the Results-Based Management System (RPMS) for DepEd.
The Department of Education (DepEd) will adopt a new system for rating public school teachers and administrators starting School Year 2014-2015. The new rating system is the DepEd's version of the Results-Based Performance Management System (RPMS) rolled out by the Aquino administration in 2012 to be the basis of merits and reward system for all employees of the executive branch of the government.

Due to the nature of jobs in schools, DepEd postponed the implementation of the new system until they finally came up with a framework that would objectively measure a school personnel's performance. RPMS would replace the Performance Appraisal System for Teachers (PAST) Performance Appraisal System for School Administrators (PASSA).

About 130 teachers from San Andres East District gathered at the multi-purpose hall of San Andres Vocational School (SAVS). This number includes teachers and administrators from San Jose Elementary School, Jose Rizal Elementary School, Lictin Integrated School, Bon-ot Elementary School, and San Andres Central Elementary School (SACES).

The new system is seen to be a more solid indicator of teachers' and school administrators' performance based on achieving institutional targets backed by evidences and shall form part of the bases for rewarding deserving teachers such as bonuses and promotions.
